The W-3 Sokół ("Falcon") is a twin-engine, medium multi-role helicopter developed by PZL-Świdnik of Poland, the first helicopter designed and series-produced in the country, with a first flight in 1979. It flies transport, search and rescue, medical evacuation, firefighting and police missions, and the Polish armed forces operate versions such as the W-3RM Anakonda maritime search-and-rescue helicopter and the W-3PL battlefield support variant. The W-3 has also been exported to countries including the Czech Republic, the Philippines and Algeria, and often appears at European airshows in rescue and aerobatic displays.
