Hawker Hurricane

Hawker Aircraft
Fighter · Europe

The Hawker Hurricane is a single-seat piston-engined fighter designed by Sydney Camm, first flown in 1935 and the RAF's first monoplane fighter capable of more than 300 mph. Rugged and easy to repair, it shot down more enemy aircraft during the 1940 Battle of Britain than all other British air defences combined, making it the true workhorse of that battle. The Hurricane also served widely in North Africa, the Mediterranean, the Soviet Union and the Far East, with around 14,000 built, and a handful remain airworthy today.
