Fighter · Europe

The Fiat G.91 "Gina" is a single-engine light attack and fighter-bomber aircraft developed by Fiat Aviazione of Italy. It first flew in 1956 and won NATO's competition for a light strike fighter. Simple, rugged and able to operate from grass or rough strips, it flew ground-attack and tactical reconnaissance missions with the Italian, West German and Portuguese air forces, and Portugal used it extensively in its colonial wars in Africa. The Frecce Tricolori flew the G.91PAN from 1964 to 1982, and preserved G.91s still appear at European airshows today.
