The E-7A Wedgetail is an airborne early warning and control aircraft developed by Boeing from the 737-700 airliner. The Northrop Grumman MESA multi-role electronically scanned array radar mounted on top of the fuselage can detect and track large numbers of air and sea targets at once while directing friendly aircraft. First operated by the Royal Australian Air Force and ordered by the Royal Air Force, it was also selected by the US Air Force to replace the E-3 Sentry, making it a leading next-generation AEW&C aircraft.
