Boeing C-17 Globemaster III
McDonnell Douglas / Boeing
Transport · USA
The C-17 Globemaster III is a large four-engine strategic and tactical airlifter developed by McDonnell Douglas and later built by Boeing, in US Air Force service since 1995. With its high wing, T-tail and externally blown flaps, it can carry outsize cargo such as main battle tanks and helicopters directly into short, austere forward airfields, combining long-range strategic airlift with tactical transport. The C-17 also flies airdrop, aeromedical evacuation and humanitarian relief missions, and is operated by air forces including those of the UK, Australia, Canada and India, making it one of the most important military transport aircraft today.
